Breeding conditions:

Lemmings, Arctic Foxes and owls were not seen during two-day visit. Birds of prey did not nest, but we saw Peregrine Falcon, White-tailed Sea-eagle, herring and Glaucous gulls. Nests of Ringed Plover, Spoon-billed Sandpiper and Temminck's Stint were found with hatching chicks. Broods of Dunlin were common, while alarming Red-necked Phalarope, Red-necked Stint, Reeve and Pectoral Sandpiper occurred in small number. Emperor Geese were moulting on lagoon in considerable number. Nests of waterfowl were not found, but predation pressure was not high based on increased abundance of wader broods in the area.
